Martin and Marie came WWOOFing in Ireland ten years ago. The fell in love with the wonderful scenery and the warm welcome they received everywhere they stayed.
Over the years they have returned, including a study time for Marie in Dublin, while Martin spent that time employed in the city too.
They have always taken time to come WWOOFing in West Cork at Francis and Susy’s Place. So it was natural for them to return in 2023 with their baby Daughter Luna, to introduce her to the Irish Countryside.
During this visit they got engaged and planned to return to get married in their favourite location.
And so it was that Francis and Susy’s Place hosted their first WWOOFer wedding in October 2023.
The day dawned as so many Irish Autumn days can, as a “soft” one: thick sea-mist, warm and still.
Marie had clearly known this because on her feet, under her beautiful dress, she wore white wellies!
A small wedding party, just eight in total, we witnessed the marriage of Martin and Marie on Three Castle Head, at the foot of a ruined castle dating back to 1207! The ever present mist added atmospheric romance, it was truly magical.
Then it was back to our favourite pub for Guinness and a Wedding Lunch in front of the log fire.
